Author: Kayane El Ayache

Kayane El-Ayache is a Young Leaders' Initiative Fellow with the Cambridge Middle East and North Africa Forum (MENAF). She studied History at Peterhouse, Cambridge. Born to Lebanese parents and growing up in Geneva, Switzerland, she has been immersed in a multicultural environment, which has shaped both her worldview and academic interests. Kayane’s current research focuses on Swiss humanitarian responses to the Armenian genocide, exploring how this history can inform contemporary understandings of humanitarianism. She is particularly interested in how ethnic and religious sympathies continue to influence the provision of aid and international interventions. As Kayane works toward completing her dissertation, she aims to connect historical case studies like Armenia with modern conflict resolution efforts, especially in the MENA region.
