UK-Africa-Middle East
Critical Minerals Forum

11 November 2024 | Trinity Hall, University of Cambridge

Organised in partnership with
Missang and the Commonwealth Africa Initiative.

The inaugural UK-Africa–Middle East Critical Minerals Forum brought together policymakers, investors, industry representatives and researchers to explore opportunities for cooperation between the United Kingdom, Africa and the Middle East in the critical minerals sector.

Discussions examined strategic investment opportunities, the role of foreign aid in facilitating trade, and the importance of net-zero goals and responsible mining practices in shaping the sector’s future. The Forum sought to foster partnerships across government, industry and finance, identify opportunities for regional cooperation, and develop policy recommendations to support sustainable development and closer economic ties between Africa, the Middle East and the UK.
