The war, triggered by Hamas’ unprecedented surprise attack on Israeli towns on 7th October presents a watershed moment in the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with potential far-reaching implications for Israel’s most immediate neighbourhood as well as the broader Middle East.
With Israel’s continued bombardment of the Gaza Strip and Hamas’ firing of rockets, armed clashes along the Israel-Lebanon border, the mobilisation of Iran-aligned militant groups in southern Lebanon and Syria, threats of an attack made by Iran, and an increasing U.S. military presence near Israel, the security situation is rapidly deteriorating.
Our panel of experts will consider the most important regional implications of different scenarios that might emerge over the coming weeks and/or months.
Speakers:
Dr Burcu Özçelik | Head of Middle East, North Africa and Turkey Practice, Audere International
Dr Gad Yishayahu | Senior Fellow and Lead Researcher on Security and Crisis
Damien McElroy | London bureau chief at The National; former foreign correspondent
Whit Mason | Head of Communications, Audere International; Associate Fellow, Royal United Services Institute (RUSI)
